Abstract

The element in the investment is 1) α or β-hemihydrate of Gypsum 2) silica (SiO₂) 3) coloring matter 4) reducing agent 5) retarders or accelerators Silica is the element in the investment to compensate for the expansion to shrink to get cold melting metal. But plaster of paris shrink at heating to take charge of a part of the binder in the investment.
